Gender inequality is an enormous problem that is particularly onerous in developing countries. Women often have no control over their income and are limited in their ability to accumulate wealth. These situations have been improving over the past 75+ years, but there is still a long way to go.
Microfinance is a way to provide capital to low-income business owners who may be excluded from traditional credit and lending options. Through our partner, Kiva, Empowerment Bridge has been able to reach women-led businesses in 60+ countries who operate in 15 different industry sectors.
Empowerment Bridge prioritizes investments that are likely to provide sustainable returns to the business. These investments can include solar refrigerators, fishing nets, livestock for milk, farming equipment and seeds, as well as many other items that will help build sustainable prosperity into the future.
